Quiksilver and Roxy Surf Camps, along with The Quiksilver Foundation today announced that it will host "Let's Go Surf, A Charitable Day of Surf" on Saturday, August 18, 2007, at numerous beaches throughout the west, gulf, and east coasts. In the first ever nationwide charity surfing day, Quiksilver, Roxy, and their affiliated instructional surf camp operators will partner with local and national charities to share the experience of surfing with those that can benefit from it most. Children from chapters of the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club, The Make-a-Wish Foundation, Woodcraft Rangers and various autism organizations will be treated to a carefree but memorable day of surf instruction, lessons in ocean awareness and the chance to experience the thrill and exhilaration of riding their first wave.
"With eight surf camps participating this inaugural year, we anticipate a great turnout of kids, parents, and staff and fully expect even greater participation in the coming years as we build this event into a national juggernaut of love and caring," said Dana Mesenbrink, Quiksilver Surf Camps Manager.
Kathie Amrstrong, Executive Director of the Quiksilver Foundation added, "The empowerment and personal achievement of standing up on a surfboard is something most of us take for granted in the surfing industry. But the benefits and joy of surfing cannot be underestimated. It is exciting that the QS Foundation can help to sponsor this one day where disadvantaged kids can participate in the life-changing experience of surfing in our Quiksilver and Roxy camps across the country."
