Who Is Doug Henry?
Aug 05 2006 / Los Angeles, CAWhen you put 20 of the world’s best motocross racers up against one another for nearly 45 laps, something crazy is bound to happen. And when the event is held at X Games 12 in Los Angeles, you can absolutely guarantee it. Welcome to the world of SuperMoto, where the flashly moves of FMX are pushed aside and the focus is returned to the origins of the sport – racing. With an unreal course of dirt and asphalt polished to perfection, X Games 12 is sure to challenge even the burliest of moto riders and will undoubtedly produce plenty of high-energy moments that will go down in the history books.
Aside from the fan favorites that everyone is familiar with including Travis Pastrana, Jeremy McGrath and Carey Hart, the biggest name in SuperMoto this year for X Games 12 is undeniably Doug Henry. Taking gold and stealing the show in X Games 11 last year, the Connecticut dirt powerhouse looks to continue his reign for 2006 and come out on top amidst the impressive roster of competitors. The fact that Henry had the fastest time in practice, qualifiers and finals during X Games 11 is enough reason alone to be confident that he can kill it in LA again this year, and with 10 career AMA SuperMoto wins already under his belt, saying that he is qualified is an understatement.
The competition will be far from easy, and judging by the non-stop madness we’ve seen on the dirt in the moto practices, including the injuries, SuperMoto will clearly weed out the best of the best and test the ability and determination of the sport’s finest. However, with his solid rap sheet and proven X Games track record that has gotten him this far, Doug Henry is a face you are sure to see on the podium after the dust clears from the track and the last rider crosses the finish line.
