The Cowboy Gets Bucked Out of Competition

Aug 05 2006 / Los Angeles, CA

Update on Kenny "The Cowboy" Bartram. Rich Swisher, Kenny's manager and partner at the Sports Syndicate has advised Lat34.com that: "Kenny, has suffered a broken scaffoid in his wrist and a broken clavicle. Kenny will be going into surgery Friday evening or Saturday morning." Lat34.com wishes Kenny "The Cowboy" Bartram a speedy recovery and we hope to see him competing again in the near future.

Friday morning’s Moto X practice started off without a hitch at 10 AM with the likes of Adam Jones, Jim McNeil, Ronnie Renner, Kenny Bartram, Ronnie Faisst and Mat Rebeaud all testing out the dirt and totally ripping it apart.  With big moves including one-handed backflips, superman seat grabs and lofty airs almost launching them out of the Home Depot Center, it was one of the last chances the boys had to practice before heading across town to the Staples Center for tonight’s Best Trick Final.  Unfortunately, in another tough break for X Games 12, crowd favorite Kenny Bartram took a gnarly slam in the final minutes of practice and is now officially knocked out of X Games contention.

“Kenny was trailing Ronnie Faisst and trying to time the 115-footer and came up just a little short,” said Bartram’s manager, Rich Swisher of Sports Syndicate.  “He went over the bars and broke his left wrist and right collarbone and was immediately taken to Harvard General,” he added.

Listed in stable condition, Bartram will miss all Moto events as well as the first-ever X Games Rally Car Racing event, where he is competing along with fellow FMX’er Travis Pastrana.  With Bartram and Stenberg out of the competition, as well as Mike Metzger and Dustin Miller, the Moto landscape at X Games 12 will be interesting to say the least and is sure to be one to watch.  With the X Games gold medal now clearly up for grabs, be sure not to miss a second of the intense action and keep checking back to Lat34 for continuous updates straight from the dirt.
